Central Illinois’ largest haunted house debuts over 5,000 new square feet of fright on Friday, October 3 on West Eldorado. More space equals more opportunities for actors to join The Scream team and scare the bejeezus out of over 6,000 attendees this October. Organizers invite outgoing and fun-loving people (16 and older) to attend an informational meeting on Saturday, September 20 at 2pm at the haunt warehouse, 680 W Eldorado Street, Decatur, IL 62522.
“Just like the Decatur Celebration, The Scream Haunted Adventure is family-friendly,” states Producer/Director, Lori Sturgill, “Our volunteers include many adults with their teenage kids having a great time together in a fun and safe environment.”
New this year, key acting parts in the haunt will be assigned based on auditions. Auditions are on Wednesday, September 24 at 6pm with more information available at the September 20 meeting.
“We plan to assign auditioned actors for one-third of the scenes,” states Sturgill. “This allows organizers to elevate costumes, make-up and scares while still allowing plenty of space for volunteers who join the haunt during the season.”
In addition to acting roles, organizers also need help with costume design and make-up application, offering many ways to get involved.
“We have had a great crew working all summer to expand and re-decorate the house,” states Production Director, Gary Moore with the Creatures of the Night. “When it comes to scares, there will be something for everyone from zombies roaming the streets of zombie town, to clowns, spiders, snakes, and more.”
The Scream Haunted Adventure is open October 3-4, 10-11, 17-18, 24-26, 31 and November 1. Tickets start at $10 with cash and credit accepted.
